Thing 4 - Online Communities

Still catching up... on to Thing 4 Online Communities. I've spent some time today on Facebook. I've actually had two different Facebook accounts (work email and home email). My goal was to merge these two accounts and have everything in the same spot. Turns out it wasn't as easy as I thought it should have been. I had to download the data from the account that I wanted to close, and import it into the "good" account, and then go back and close out the account that I didn't want. It didn't sound too bad, but I was actually never able to import the data into the good account. I ended up closing one account, and "re-friending" (is that a word?) my "friends" from the closed account. Since I only had 9 friends, it was manageable. Now I have to become better at checking my Facebook!  

Thing 3 -Photo Sharing- Catching up!

ok, I'm finally catching up on Thing 3 - Photo Sharing. I have searched Flickr for a photo to upload, and have found some pictures of the Royal wedding (what else would you look for today?). It is amazing how fast someone has uploaded pictures to Flickr. Here's a link to one photo from a photographer with the name "It's a foot!".

Thing 2: RSS

ok, I have set up an iGoogle start page so far. I'm still working on adding things to it. I've been able to pick a neat theme, and with Jean's help have added the blogs of the CDLC staff to my page. That way I can follow those blogs all in one place. I'm going to work some more on adding tabs to organize information from the Learn with CDLC Project better.  So far, so good I think!  This has been a little more challenging than Thing 1, but not too bad! I can see changing your page frequently to add new gadgets, etc. More tomorrow!  

Thing 1: Blogging -Day 2

Today I learned how to change the time stamp on my posts to Eastern Standard time.  Thank you Ilka for the instructions!  For anyone else with the same issue, just go to Settings, then Formatting.  Hopefully I've got it fixed because that 3 hr. time difference on the time stamp was driving me crazy!

Hello to all Learn with CDLC participants!

I am Sue Rahn, Catalog Librarian at CDLC. I've been here at CDLC for 22 years!  How did that happen? I'm looking forward to learning about new technology tools with 150 of my colleagues through the Learn with CDLC program.  I've never done a blog before, so I'm already learning this morning!  I hope we all have lots of fun in the next 10 weeks!
